Group Fitness Class Descriptions
Mind/Body/Spirit
Pilates: This mat class adapts the principles of the Pilates technique, emphasizing torso stabilization through the use of the abdominals and back. Great for increasing flexibility, strength, and posture. All levels welcome.
Yoga: Experience the mind/body connection through a series of postures, creating a continuous flow, accompanied by deep breathing. Yoga focuses on internal strength, postural integration and radiant health. All levels welcome.
PiYo: PiYo™ is a combination of both Yoga and Pilates. PiYo™ allows you to move at a decent tempo from one pose to another. Some of the exercises are performed while seated, and some while standing. All levels are welcome.
Dance
Cardio-Dance: Love to move? Get an aerobic workout while dancing! Each instructor brings his/her own individual style to this high intensity class. Variations include Jazz, Latin, Ballet, Funk, Brazilian, Afro-Caribbean, TRY THEM ALL! These inspiring and powerful classes are taught by leaders in the dance world.
Cardio Hip Hop: This class uses simple hip hop moves combined with upbeat music to keep you moving the whole time. Hip Hop is a great class to get your cardio workout, and have fun while doing it!
Cardio Blast: A low impact aerobics class with limited dance choreography. Class is designed for people who want a challenging aerobic workout and a good sweat. Format consists of an active warm-up, 45 minutes of cardio exercise, abdominal exercise and cool down. Beginner to intermediate.
Cardio Funk: An original, invigorating funk/hip hop dance aeerobics routine designed to give you an intense and powerful workout. All levels welcome.
Dance Conditioning: A fun, low-impact dance workout. Tone, firm, and strengthen muscles commmonly used for dance. A great compliment to any dance class.
Cardio Tap: Learn the basics of tap dancing, with or without tap shoes. Build combinations, and participate in structured improvisations. Check out this low key, fun class, and remember…sweating is optional! ?
Strength & Conditioning
BOSU: Improve balance, develop core strength, and get a great aerobic workout using the BOSU. The BOSU is a completely unique and multidimensional training device that integrates core training, functional sports training, and balance training. All levels welcome.
Cardio Interval: A creative combination of muscular and cardiovascular endurance exercises. The cardio interval can incorporate kickboxing, low impact, cycling, and basic step. The conditioning interval utilizes tubes, BOSU, and weights. Intense and powerful workout! All levels welcome.
Firm/Body Sculpt: Hand weights, tubing, steps, and more will help you increase strength, tone up, improve metabolism and flexibility. Instructors pay close attention to correct form and technique. All levels welcome.
Basic Training: Class includes a series of bootcamp-style drills to improve cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength intervals to reshape and tone, an intense abdominal workout for core stability, and stretching. All levels welcome.
Firm Express 30: A scaled-down version of Firm/Body Sculpt. This is a 30 minute class. Al levels welcome.
Step
Step: High intensity aerobic workout utilizing the
step bench. Choreography is moderate to complex. This class is designed for participants who want to gain cardiovascular fitness. All levels welcome.
Step-Interval: Segments of step aerobics and weight training to increase your heart rate, and tone muscles. Weight training is done with hand weights, body bars, and tubing. Abdominal exercise and stretching is included.
Cardio
Workout: Low impact aerobics with basic choreographed routines. Format consists of warm-up, 30-40 minutes of cardio exercise, abdominal exercise, and stretching. Beginner to intermediate.
Cycling: These indoor stationary bike classes are like no other fitness class you've taken before. The classes take place on specially designed indoor road bikes and the exercises are based on techniques used by outdoor race-enthusiasts. Come prepared to do a workout that stimulates your body and mind!
Cycling Interval: This class is a combination of cycling, strength training, lateral training, and anaerobic threshold exercises that increase endurance, strength and agility. All levels welcome.
Cardio Kick: An aerobic class that incorporates moves from the martial arts. Learn the proper techniques for punching and kicking. Cardio-kick is a great way to increase strength and aerobic capacity. All levels.
Cardio Sculpt: This low-impact & strength class with very little choreography is good for those who have minimal experience with aerobics. Hand weights, the body bar, and other peripherals are used for strength training in conjunction with an aerobic workout. The class is predominately based on low impact aerobics, combined with body sculpting. The class culminates with a strong abdominal workout followed by a brief, relaxing stretch.
